Am 23.01.1988 erblickte J-Estilo, der mit bürgerlichem Namen José Ignacio Lazcano Ojeda heisst, in Los Angeles de Chile das Licht der Welt. Bis zu seinem siebten Lebensjahr lebte er dort und ging dort zur Schule. Doch dann folgte er im Jahr 1995 seinen Eltern nach Deutschland. Im Alter von 10 Jahren trat er dem Chor an seiner Schule bei und schnell bemerkte man sein Talent und die Liebe zur Musik. MIt 13 Jahren begann er mit den ersten Rap Versuchen, nicht, wie von vielen erwartet in seiner Muttersprache, sondern auf deutsch. Aufgrund der Schwierigkeiten bei der Aussprache, entschloss er sich seine Lieder auf spanisch zu schreiben, um es sich selbst einfacher zu machen und dazu den Menschen noch ein Teil seiner Kultur zu vermitteln. Ab diesem Tag begleitete ihn seine Muttersprache durch seine Texte und fand bei seinen Zuhörern großen Zuspruch. Er baute sein Spanisch weiter aus und nahm mit 15 seinen ersten Track mit dem Namen "El Chico Problematico" auf. Die Resonanz war riesig und die Leute begeisterten sich für seine Werke. Als er das 17te Lebensjahr erreichte brach in Deutschland ein grosses Reaggeatonfieber aus. Er erkannte die Gunst der Stunde, schloss sich der Bewegung an und performte seitdem auf den Lateinamerikanishen Sound.
